We all know how Demi Lovato is very much into fitness, from sharing her workouts on Instagram to releasing her own line of workout clothes with Kate Hudson’s Fabletics. The singer’s most significant reveal— Demi Lovato does Jiu-Jitsu and she can totally kick ass.
Apparently, the singer’s tough chick appearances on her videos are not just for show. The fitness buff loves working out and she often integrates boxing and martial arts into her workout routines.
“My favorite workout is Jiu-Jitsu. I just have so much fun doing it, and there’s something about the strategy involved that kind of makes it like a chess game and keeps your brain occupied as well while you’re working out, so you never get bored.”

In 2016, Lovato started her intense jiu-jitsu regimen and we’ve seen her showcase her skills. Jiu-jitsu is a complex sport that can be used for combat, self-defense, or as a fun and enjoyable way to get fit and strong. Lovato, who has learned to carry out swings and kicks with power, also trained with MMA experts including Cung Le, Jay Glazer, and Orlando Sanchez.

Also, recently, Lovato and Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam were on the Late Late Show with James Corden where the celebrities talked about their common interest—Brazilian jiu-jitsu. A video of Lovato taking down her boyfriend, MMA fighter Guilherme Vasconcelos, was shown.
And it looks like she’s learned how to kick butts, thanks to all her lessons. The singer shares a video of her sparring with Jiu-Jitsu teacher Danielle Martin. Lovato is able to grab Martin and effectively flip him over her shoulder in a single move. Hello, girl power!
