Do you also find being subjected to the stigma surrounding menstruation strange? If you’re one of us, then we’re pretty sure you’d enjoy the period-friendly coloring book that Cass Clemmer has created. Indeed, The Adventures of Toni the Tampon is Clemmer’s gift to every woman out there.

“I developed a whole character from Toni after I saw some googly-eyes my mom had bought for me and decided to put them on a tampon. From there, the two collided into my period coloring book. I wanted to create an interactive and humorous way to normalize menstruation, for kids and adults alike.” (Cass Clemmer)

The coloring book is a major step toward period acceptance. The main character, Toni the Tampon, is a real tampon with googly eyes. Toni’s adventures “outside the wrapper” were photographed by Clemmer and posted on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, prior to becoming the star of the current coloring book that Clemmer herself has drawn.

“I went from hiding my tampon in my sleeve to taking photos of it in public.” (Cass Clemmer)

The Adventures of Toni the Tampon coloring book features Toni the Tampon and her friends, Patrice the Pad, Sebastian the Sponge, and Marina the Menstrual Cup, in a number of adventures to the Wild West as well as in outer space.

“A lot of us are taught to keep periods to ourselves, to the point that even having a wrapped tampon outside the confines of the bathroom can feel inappropriate. The amount of work and ingenuity that goes into hiding this shared, cyclical experience would be comical if it wasn’t distressing.” (Cass Clemmer)

Clemmer assures that the period-themed coloring book is not just all buzz but it’s actually great for all ages. The Adventures of Toni the Tampon is a kid-friendly book serves as a tool to help parents teach kids about periods as well as a fun way for adults to deal with the stigma surrounding menstruation.
