Red iPhones Are Here

Along with the brand’s announcement about new video app, Clips, Apple confirmed the great news. A special edition red iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will be made available as part of its (PRODUCT)RED line. The models were made available worldwide beginning March 24, 2017.

Buy (RED). Give life.

December 2016 marked the 10-year anniversary of (RED), which is an organization founded by Bono and Bobby Shriver. The goal of the organization is to fight HIV/AIDS and raise awareness of these conditions. Apple is the largest corporate contributor to (RED)’s global fund, which in turn uses 100% of the contributions to finance its programs. The contribution helps people affected by HIV in Ghana, Lesotho, Rwanda, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Kenya, and Zambia.

“For 10 years, our partnership with (RED) has supported HIV/AIDS programs that provide counseling, testing, and medicine that prevents the transmission of HIV from a mother to her unborn child. So far, we’ve raised over $130 million through the sale of our (RED) products. Now we’re introducing iPhone 7 (PRODUCT)RED™ Special Edition. Every purchase brings us a step closer to an AIDS‑free generation.” (Apple)

Apple stores have joined the efforts with prior (RED)-themed merchandise, including red cases for all its products. The red iPhone 7 and 7 Plus are the brand’s biggest (PRODUCT)RED releases yet.

The company states that every (RED) purchase contributes directly to the organization’s global fund, highlighting that one U.S. dollar can already provide for three days of lifesaving medicine. Purchases can help fund testing of the disease in Sub-Saharan Africa, as well as provide counselling, education, and care services that can help curb the rising numbers.
