Smile of the Week – Sofia Vergara Bares All for Women’s Health
For its September issue, Women’s Health magazine has the lovely Sofia Vergara baring it all. With her disarming smile and long brunette waves, the almost 45-year old Colombian beauty graces the cover of WH’s first ever global Naked Issue.
Introducing our first-ever global Naked Issue, starring the one and only @sofiavergara! 🙌 "Here's a woman, 45, being able to show her body," she says of posing for our September cover. "It's not like before, when it was just young girls." Head to WomensHealthMag.com for the full story and pick up the issue on newsstands everywhere August 8!
Sofia Vergara is WH Editors’ Top Pick
According to WH Editor in Chief Amy Keller Laird, they had a shortlist of stars that the editors of all the global issues could agree on, and the Modern Family star was number one.
“The goal is to show really confident, strong women in their own skin. Step one was finding someone who would resonate around the world, and there’s only a few people who do that.” (Amy Keller Laird)
While she is usually perceived by viewers as a sex symbol, Vergara has never gone skinny-dipping in her life. She doesn’t even like being barefaced and without makeup. In fact, she almost always wears lipstick, even when she’s alone in her Beverly Hills mansion. This explains why she was taken aback when she got the call about posing nude for WH.
“I told [my rep], ‘I’m going to be 45 years old! Stop putting me in naked things! Let me age with dignity!’ People say, ‘Oh, you look like you’re in your twenties.’ Well, it’s not true. Our skin is different. I had never thought of the word pore, then I’m like, ‘Sh-t! What do I do with these?’”
Empowered and Influential
We couldn’t agree better with WH’s choice. Not only is Joe Manganiello’s wife the highest-paid television actress in the world, but she is also currently one of the most influential celebrities. Two decades ago, the actress cofounded Latin World Entertainment, which is the largest Hispanic talent management and marketing firm in the U.S.
“In countries where there is a lot of poverty, women are such an important force for the family. And sometimes they have to endure horrible things because they don’t have the means to just pack up and leave. I want to give them something to be able to help themselves, to save some money, to be able to have more control of their lives.”
Hard Work and Positivity
Vergara is also the spokesperson for various international beauty brands, specifically CoverGirl and Head & Shoulders. Her successful career and blossoming business ventures are the products of a positive attitude and a lot of hard work.
“Often I haven’t been the youngest or most intelligent girl in the room but I always, always am the hardest-working one. Dreams don’t happen if you just sit down and accept things.”
