This Mt Everest Wedding is Health and Relationship Goals!

By  |

Climbing Earth’s highest mountain is one adventure that many individuals definitely have in their bucket lists, which is why we’re all in awe of James and Ashley who just had a Mt Everest wedding. Talk about ticking off two entries on the list at once: 1) get married to the one you love, and 2) climb Mt. Everest.

Thanks to the amazing documentation by Charleton Churchill, an adventure photographer, we get a peek into this one of a kind celebration of love. The couple married at Mt. Everest Base Camp in front of the famous Khumbu ice-fall and the carved Nuptse Face in the backdrop. James and Ashley are the first couple to exchange vows in a wedding dress and tux on the mountain.

Documenting a wedding up to and at Mt. Everest Base Camp right in front of the Khumbu ice-fall where Sherpas lay ladders over deep crevasses for climbers to cross with the Himalayan mountain range surrounding us…can officially be the answer to the most asked question I get from you all: What has been your favorite wedding location? . We appeared on Fox40 news news this morning, CBS a few days ago, check out the interview on my Facebook link. . #mteverestwedding #adventureawaits #adventurethatislife #adventurewedding #stayandwander #exploremore #weddingphotos #weddingphotography #keepitwild #getlost #visualsgang #destinationwedding #adventurous #junebugweddings #bridalfashion #weddingphotographer #finditliveit #getoutdoors #getoutstayout #hikerslife #theoutbound #brides #goplaces #adventurevisuals #choosemountains #charletonchurchillphotography #visualsoflife #weddinginspo #everestbasecamp #mteverest

But, this was not an easy task as those who wish to ascend the summit have to be at the peak of their health as well as mentally ready for the challenges. Preparing for the wedding and the climb therefore required commitment from both the couple and the photographer. Churchill shares on his website,

“We trained for the year and planned to be on the mountain for 2-3 weeks in order to acclimatize our way up to base camp so James and Ashley can get married and get a few photos. I’ve trained much of my life in the outdoors, climbing many mountains, training in high altitude mountaineering, leading teams, photographing, even to the summit of the highest peak in north America, Alaska’s Denali, Mt. McKinley, at 20,320 ft., in colder and harsher conditions. I even fell in a crevasse, but was roped in and rescued.”

Churchill shares that while their trip was “epic and amazing,” there were many challenges that they had to conquer. Fortunately for the newlyweds and their team, they were able to withstand the pressures and prove the strength of their relationship.

“Both James and Ashley made for great trail partners. We were like family. Ashley is tough girl who crushed it on the mountain trail and maintained a great pace. James is a great man who took care of Ashley, always looking after her needs. Plus he’s a comedian who made us laugh often. It can be difficult after a few days on a long mountain trek with all the pressure and lack of resources to maintain a smile, but we did well.”
